Donna emailed me in October about officiating her wedding to JR. She told me that she and JR had known each other for 26 years but their lives had gone different directions long ago, including previous marriages. They both ended up single again after many years and found out that they loved each other. She wrote: "We want the ceremony to be short but sincere and about our love and commitment to each other. We want it written in today's language with no pomp and circumstance. Just the basics; we're very simple people... I love him, he loves me and we've chosen to spend the rest of our lives committed only to each other." She told me the story of how they had gotten together again and that "Neither of us were looking for a serious relationship. But, time has a way of healing the heart. Over time, our friendship blossomed into something big." And so we started working on the ceremony for their wedding which took place on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2009 at noon at JR's lovely home.
This is JR's home. Isn't it spectacular tucked away in the pine forest in front of a small lake? The ceremony was held in the sunroom in front of the hot tub! The roof was glass so there was plenty of light and the sunshine beaming through created a comfortable temperature.
Donna had assembled some pretty candles and other decor for the occasion.
Making the pronouncement of marriage for these two wonderful people as their best friends witness their ceremony.
From left to right are Rick and Penny, Donna's best friend, Donna and JR, Theresa and her husband, Rick, JR's best friend. Words in the ceremony paid tribute to all of these close friends.
Our happy couple, now married. We managed to catch JR with his eyes closed but his smile gives away his happiness for the occasion! Donna and JR, I wish you many years of happiness and unparalleled joy. You both deserve it!
