Deirdre and Spencer Wed at Bass Lake Park in Holly Springs!

Bass Lake Park in Holly Springs is a picturesque, casual setting for a fun wedding and that is precisely what Deirdre and Spencer wanted for their wedding. We met last September and booked their date of April 18, 2014 on my calendar and started working on the ceremony which they wanted to be non-religious and "pretty basic." And so the wedding day dawned sunny and mild, a clearing between rainy days that week, but with the threat of showers later in the day. The sun was popping in and out of the clouds. They were happy they had chosen to have their wedding at 1:00 in the afternoon.
Deirdre and Spencer love color and so their wedding was very colorful as you will see!
Their friend, Suzanne, was our wedding director. I was so happy she was organized and took charge and made sure everything was ready and flowed beautifully. Thanks so much, Suzanne! Can I recommend you for other weddings?
Our violinist was Carly Lewis with Orchid River Strings out of Fayetteville. I had never met her before. When I was going over the processional music and cues, she remarked that no one had ever done that with her and that she had always just had to "wing it" and was happy to know more specifics.
I have never seen the reception area so formal before! Looks beautiful--and colorful of course!
Whole Foods did the cake and cupcakes and the flowers. Cute little ducks on top represent Deirdre and Spencer and their adorable 16 month old daughter, Eliza Jane.
 We are ready to go!
The bridesmaids entered followed by Deirdre and her father, Bob.
Aren't the suspenders and sneakers wonderful!! The suspenders were handy to pin the boutonnieres on too. Love these bright cheerful colors and the comfort of the more casual look!
The pretty bridesmaids had on cool, comfortable wrap dresses and each carried a different color bouquet.
Deirdre and Spencer chose to have an elopement style ceremony which means that it did not have their story or personalized paragraphs in it but was customized to them including a blessing for Eliza, their daughter. Eliza. She did not make it down the aisle alone but was carried by her grandmother, Nicole, Deirdre's mom.
She was supposed to process in carrying this cute little sign!
They chose the "I do" type of vows where I ask the questions and they say I do then exchanged rings. Easy peasy! Brittany Hines, their photographer, is getting some good shots here!
The pouring of their sand together with Eliza's.
Eliza's purple sand surrounded by her parents' sand and room for maybe one more child?
 The closing blessing....
I don't remember saying anything funny in particular but Deirdre was so happy during the ceremony that she laughed a lot and we all loved seeing that joy!
Pronouncement of marriage and then......
Wow, Deirdre laid a real smacker on Spencer!
"Honored guests, I present to you for the first time, Spencer and Deirdre, husband and wife!"
 Finally happily married!
There's Eliza! With her froggy. Spencer and Deirdre, congratulations and best wishes for happily ever after! What a wonderful wedding that was so perfectly you!

Jennifer and Ken Wed at The Umstead Hotel and Spa!

Jennifer and Ken wanted a small intimate ceremony surrounded by their families, including their kids. They chose the beautiful Umstead Hotel and Spa for the occasion and we all gathered together there the morning of June 7, 2014.
They chose two of their children to sign their marriage license as witnesses (there is no age restriction on the witnesses) and we got that done before we went outside for the ceremony. (The marriage license is signed by the officiant after the wedding--never before.)
Carrie, the catering manager hosting this wedding, led us down through the garden then out around the lake.
The waterspout is always on and looks so festive. It was a beautiful morning.
There are many secluded areas on the hotel property and Carrie took us to a spot where there were stairs so that we could stand on the steps and be easily seen by the guests standing on the boardwalk.
It was very private and we were surrounded by the lush foliage. Brittany Hines was on hand as their photographer.
It was a brief ceremony and customized to what Jennifer and Ken told me they wanted. We honored the parents and their children and remembered those that were not with us.
After the vows they exchanged rings.
The pronouncement.....
Congratulations, Jennifer and Ken! I wish you the very best forever!
