I met the couple for the first time in person a few days later at their rehearsal. I had put together a wedding ceremony for them based on what they told me they would like. I emailed it to them and they loved it--did not change a word! Unfortunately we did not have time to include the story of their love and their journey to the wedding day but I was able to include a brief synopsis.
When all the guests were in place, it was time for me to enter first.
After I made the unplugged announcement, it was time to begin the processional.
William, brother of the groom and best man, did triple duty escorting in their parents and grandparents! He was hustling! After the grandparents, parents, and wedding party had entered and taken their places, Alix and her dad, Bill, made their walk down the aisle.
"Who gives their love and blessing to Alix as she joins in marriage to Mitch?" Bill answered: "Her mother and I do." And all the guests were seated.
A warm welcome to all who had traveled to be with them from far and near.
Then a sweet prayer.
I stepped out front to address their parents in a surprise tribute to them. Always such a sweet surprise and usually invokes some tears!I delivered some words on when the couple met 5 years earlier in Greenville SC and then some words on love and marriage to welcome Mitch and Alix into marriage.
I just love the wooden hexagon frame that the couple made. Thankfully it was easy to disassemble and transport to their new venue. Tildy Designs from Morehead City NC added the florals. Jose Duerto with Single Story Film was their videographer. Amanda with Atlanta Dahlia Photography from the Wilmington/Jackson NC area was their professional photographer. Fox Feltman with BTA Entertainment from New Bern NC was their DJ.
They read their vows to each other from my ceremony book.
Then Mitch placed the ring on Alix's finger.
Alix placed the ring on Mitch's finger.
We then had a closing prayer from Colossians.
Before I make the pronouncement and invite them to kiss, I check noses, especially if I hear either of them sniffing. I did wipe away some tears from Mitch's eyes. A good laugh from our guests and bride!I placed my hand on theirs and pronounced them married--husband and wife--and invited them to share their first married kiss!
No problem here!
We did it! It is done! So thrilled!
The maid of honor handed Alix her bouquet and everyone cheered them on.
Alix and Mitch! I am so happy you found me and that you gave me the honor of joining you in marriage! It was a great wedding! Congratulations!
