It was my great honor to join my friends Sherri and Charles in marriage on June 16th, 2018 at The Mayton Inn. Also attending this lovely wedding were many friends that we have in common from Unity of the Triangle spiritual community.
The Mayton Inn is an elegant boutique hotel in Cary. This is the first wedding I have had the privilege of officiating here. It is a beautiful facility.Joe Eastman with Elite DJ was providing the ceremony and reception music. He helped me plug my microphone into the house system. Thanks, Joe!
The groom and other family members are hanging out prior to the wedding in the lounge area.
I took Michael, Charles' son, and Drue, Sherri's son, aside to sign the marriage license as their witnesses.
Out on the terrace the chairs, programs and aisle runner were in place.
I was reviewing the ceremony script in the lobby when a bunch of friends came through the lobby. My friend and choir buddy, Linda, sat down to chat.
Kevin Seifert was our professional photographer. What a great shot of Charles and Michael!
This lovely cake was made by Holly Behr, another friend of the couple. It is simply gorgeous!
To begin the ceremony Charles and his son Michael and I entered from the side. Sherri's sons Luke and Evan then entered and took their places.
Then I invited the guests to stand as Sherri was escorted in by her son Drue.
Drue placed his mother's hand into Charles' hand then took his place with his brothers.
I greeted the guests and welcomed them to this pinnacle moment in the lives of our bride and groom.
Great shot, Kevin!!
They are so in love and consider their marriage an unexpected and miraculous chance for happiness.
The woman with the big hat is Holly Behr who baked that lovely cake!
After a prayer we remembered the couple's parents who were not present with us but the wedding was being live streamed to them.At this point in the ceremony I am telling Michael how Sherri is so happy to become part of his family and promises to love and support him as her own.
Then words from Charles to Sherri's sons and how happy he is to have them as his sons.
I think they were touched by this tribute.
The ceremony took place on the spacious terrace on the side of the hotel. It was perfect for this wedding!
A few words of wisdom on love and marriage and how they met and fell in love.
They had each told me in confidence what they love about each other and this was revealed at this point.
Charles gets to hear what Sherri told me about her love for him.
And now for their vows to each other.
They symbolism of the rings......
Charles says his ring vows to Sherri as he places the ring on her finger.
Then Sherri makes her ring vows to Charles.
After a closing blessing, I placed my hand on theirs and pronounced them husband and wife!
Their first married kiss!
The newlyweds!
Married at last!
A great group shot!!
The very happy couple!
After getting my photo with the couple, I left but Kevin was kind enough to send me these photos of Sherri and Charles after the wedding and of the reception.
The terrace was readied for the reception.
The guests enjoying mixing and mingling while awaiting the return of the bride and groom.
Greeting the guests.
The traditional feeding each other the cake!
Sherri is apparently addressing the guests.
After dining and dancing, the sparkler finale! What a great wedding!
