They included a sand ceremony and we included pouring of sand from several family members that symbolized the important things family means to Sylvie and Mark.
Sylvie's nephews, Shane and Cody, sprinkled the mulch path with flower petals. Flower boys?
We are almost ready for the bride! Mark and I had taken our places by the arbor and our flower boys are just about finished sprinkling the petals.
Shane is so cute!
Sylvie was escorted in by her cousin, Todd.
We had lots of guests including a few canine guests although you cannot see them in this photo. Sylvie and Mark are both trainers for K9 Solutions which specializes in dog manners and behavior. Needless to say, our 4 legged furry guests were very well behaved!
The other side of the aisle!
We began with a welcome to all and I explained the stone warming ceremony. Each guest had taken a stone to hold during the ceremony infusing them with their blessings for the couple. Then the stones were placed in a birdbath at the end of the ceremony.
We included the hand-fasting ritual. They had a beautiful hand-fasting cord which I wrapped around their joined left hands.
The more loops the stronger the bond.
Then they joined their right hands which formed the symbol of infinity blessing their marriage in the ebb and flow of the universe. While their hands were joined, they said their vows of marriage which were printed in my book facing them. Before they exchanged rings, I removed the cord and draped it around Mark's neck making sure the ends were even.
"With this ring I marry you and pledge my heart to you."
Then it is the time Sylvie's nephews have been waiting for. They each poured in blue sand for the rich heritage of the families of our couple forming the foundation of this marriage.
Sylvie and Mark each poured a layer of their sand.
Tina, a cousin, then added more blue representing the sweetness of marriage.
And finally, Sylvie and Mark blended the remainder of their sand together on top.
Before I pronounced them husband and wife, they were blessed with a call to the directions and the four elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Then I invited them to kiss!
Nice!
Off into their future together!
The final sand configuration.
Mark and Sylvie, you did it! Fantastic wedding for a couple so in love. Thank you for choosing me to join you in matrimony! I wish you much happiness and contentment for the rest of your lives!
