Krissy and Del Tie the Knot in Kayelily's Wedding Garden!

Krissy and Del wanted more than just a courthouse wedding, so back in February Krissy sought me out. We settled on a wedding date of May 30th, 2015 and I sent them the contract followed later by a proposed ceremony for them to alter to their beliefs. The wedding day rolled around and it was a beautiful day for a wedding in my garden.
They absolutely could not possibly get married without their fur baby Rudee as one of their witnesses! What a sweet well-behaved dog he was.
Their guests arrived and we began the ceremony surrounded by their loved ones and nature.
They have both been down the marriage road before so this time they knew what they wanted in a mate and found their perfect match in each other!
This wedding ceremony was a serious commitment but was also filled with impromptu laughter and comments. We all enjoyed ourselves!
Krissy places the ring on Del's finger and says her vows to him.....
I wish I remember what we were laughing about, no doubt something funny Del said. He was really enjoying himself on his wedding day!
We missed the kiss but Del is giving the thumbs up to everyone that the deed is done!
Krissy and Del, congratulations on finding each other and may your life together be filled with blessings beyond your wildest imagination!

Wonderful Wedding for Erin and Ryan at Highgrove!

Highgrove Estates in Fuquay-Varina has never looked more grand on Erin and Ryan's wedding day, May 30, 2015!
Although the big oak tree with the swing out front had to be removed, the gazebo with the swing is a lovely replacement and I know that brides and grooms get great wedding pictures in it!
The owners of Highgrove, Vickie and Angela, have done a superb job of restoring this beauty to its original grandeur plus more! The landscaping is gorgeous and so colorful. Their new Sales Manager is Ann Turnbill, who was my first bride in my first big wedding back in 1999 when I was just beginning my wedding ministry! It was great to see her again after 16 years!
Every couple gets announced on this chalk board!
The pergola is all decked out for the wedding and they had adorable fans for programs for the guests.
\
The patio's permanent pavilion with the bar is where the guests hang out before and after the ceremony.
Highgrove does their own catering. This menu looks delicious!
The garden ballroom with his draped ceiling is always elegant--and air-conditioned!
Sweet Memories made this beautiful cake.
Phil with Lightwater Video Productions out of Winston-Salem is set up and ready for the ceremony.
A medallion for the couple is projected onto the dance floor.
Flowers on Broad provided all the floral arrangements and bouquets. This is the bride and groom table.
Our staff from Island Sound DJ Company--Sean is the "tekkie" and Frankie is our DJ. Great guys to work with!
A clever idea. Guests sign little paper hearts then insert them between the glass and matt with a heart on it from the top of the frame.
Getting the guests to their seats on this rather warm day!
I entered first to "anchor" the altar space as each person in the wedding party entered and stepped into place.
Ryan escorted his mother, Kim, in with his dad, Phillip following, then joined me up front.
Carol, mother of the bride, was escorted in by her son, Alex.
It is 5:30 and the sun is setting over the roof of the house right in our eyes. We always hope for a cloud to float over the sun to give us some relief!
Then the bridesmaids are escorted in by the groomsmen.
The lady in the black is our Highgrove wedding director. Diane. Angela, who was their director had her baby early--the day before the wedding--and so Diane stepped in to direct. Thanks, Diane!!
 The next couple.
Our Best Man, Scott, and Maid of Honor, Krystina!
 Somerly, our flower girl.
Then Brooks and Reagan began their adventure down the aisle.
Tara Parker, our photographer, at the end of the aisle is getting this slow procession!
 They made it!!
And now for our beautiful bride escorted by her father, Chip.
Chip answered my question, placed Erin's hand into Ryan's then everyone sat down.
Welcome to everyone! Opening prayer and remembering loved ones who are no longer with us. Blessing of the parents.
Then their story! It all began in West Virginia on January 31st, 2013 when Ryan and Erin first connected while out for dinner one night with co-workers from the hospital where they both worked. Although a blizzard had begun outside, their attraction was so strong, they lingered to get to know each other. Ryan walked Erin to her car and they shared their first kiss amongst the snowflakes and had pretty scary drives home. To say that it was a memorable moment is an understatement! The dating began and Ryan proposed on January 31st, exactly one year to the day since they met. They relocated to North Carolina in June 2014 when Erin received a fellowship at UNC.  Erin found me on Highgrove's list of preferred vendors and saw all my reviews on Weddingwire and sent me an email in April of 2014. I was delighted that I was available and we moved quickly to get their wedding on my calendar and begin work on their ceremony. I met them in person for the first time at their rehearsal but felt like I had known them for years!
Then it was time to exchange vows and rings.
The pronouncement of marriage! I invited Ryan to kiss the bride!
The kiss needs to be long enough for the photographer to get a picture and so it was!
There is that sweet "after-kiss" moment that always happens as the marriage sinks in!
And there they go (as I grabbed a hankie to wipe my face)!
Ryan and Erin, it was a beautiful wedding and you two were cool as cucumbers while I sweated it out! Congratulations. You are so right for each other and I know your marriage will be long and happy!

Spectacular Bollywood Wedding for Nikita and Matt at the Washington-Duke Inn!

Nikita and Matt met while freshmen at Duke University in 2007 and Matt proposed in the upper realms of Duke Chapel. So, when they began planning their wedding, the Washington-Duke Inn in Durham was the logical choice although neither family lived in North Carolina. They contacted me last December from the Washington-Duke Inn preferred vendor list about officiating their wedding on Sunday May 24th, 2015. Nikita is of Indian heritage and so in that tradition they planned to have an Indian ceremony earlier in the day followed by the American ceremony at 5 PM. As we planned the ceremony I learned that Nikita is a huge fan of Bollywood movies--the very dramatic, romantic, elaborately costumed musical and dance movies in India. So, really when I arrived on Saturday morning for their rehearsal, I should not have been surprised to see the tent going up over the President's Terrace with the water feature, pedestals, draping fabrics and statues of Ganesh being set in place! I wish I had a photo of it when it was ready for the Indian wedding.
When Marty and I arrived for the American wedding, we peeked inside the ballroom and workers were busily hanging bling from the ceiling, setting up the blue uplighting, a mandap with sofa for the bride and groom, glittery table cloths and two huge video screens showing Bollywood kinds of images!
Their initials were projected onto the dance floor and the DJ was getting set up inside and outside.
There were two huge video screens showing movies Bollywood style, of course!
The cake by Mitchell's Catering was being set up under the mandap.
Back outside the draping and decor from the Indian ceremony had been removed and a more typical American style set up was in place.
Bollywood DJ was from New York and I plugged my mic into his system.
Up front was this water feature. You cannot see in the photo but there was a sheet of water streaming down in the center.
When the guests had been seated, the groom and his 9 groomsmen and I gathered in the back to enter. I also took this opportunity to get the best man to sign the license.
Watching the grandparents and parents get all lined up on the other side of the terrace.
Then Matt's parents began walking in followed by the parents of the bride. Father of the Bride returned to escort in Nikita.
This is Steve Hubbs of Electric Karma, the wedding and event planning company that is famous for handling Indian Weddings internationally.
Just waiting for our cue!
There were about 350 guests who flew in from all over the world.
Urvashi Mishra with Electric Karma directed the bridesmaids in one by one.
Our Maid of Honor last.....
Time for the ring bearer and the two flower girls!
Ready for the bride! As soon as I could see her enter, I invited the guests to stand in her honor. Our photographers were Adrian and Tim with f8 Photo Studios and our videographer was Jonathan with f8 {in Motion}.
Kris, father of the bride, proudly escorts his beautiful daughter down the aisle.
And so we began with a welcome to all and remembered those no longer with us.
Then a warm tribute to their parents for all their love and support.
They have a great love story. Even though I did not meet Nikita and Matt in person until their rehearsal, I felt though I had known them for years after writing their story.
Although they met and dated in college, they went their separate ways after graduation--Nikita to medical school in West Virginia and Matt to work in several cities most recently Boston--their relationship became long distance for four long years interspersed with trips and vacations all over the world.
When it came time to propose, Matt cooked up a trip back to Durham to visit their favorite places when they were students along with an elaborate plan to pop the question which required Nikita to solve riddles to get them from one place to the next place. They ended up in the very top of Duke Chapel, a place Nikita always wanted to go but never got there while a student. It was there that Matt gave her a little speech about how much he loved her, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Nikita was so busy crying, she couldn't see his face or the ring he custom designed until about 10 minutes later! Matt told me that his proposal scheme was so dramatic because Nikita had grown up watching Bollywood movies and the proposal had to be grand and dramatic to meet her expectations!
This wedding is a double celebration because Nikita graduated medical school and will begin internship in New York City and Matt has changed jobs from Boston to Manhattan. Finally, after 4 long years, they will be living together in the same city.
Matt and Nikita both shed tears during the whole ceremony. It was a good thing I had 3 hankies with me that day because we used them all!
They said their vows to each other reading from my book, then exchanged rings.
At this point, I had them turn and face me and wipe their eyes, cheeks and noses!
Then we moved on to the sand ceremony where they poured their sand together.
A closing blessing.....
The pronouncement of marriage. (The American ceremony was the legal one too.)
Sweet kiss!
Oh wow! We are really married now!
Presenting them to their guests!
Urvashi has the couple and the wedding party scoot through the cocktail area to a conference room to wait until the guests had cleared the tent. Then we went back in and took pictures.
Fantastic wedding!! It was truly Bollywood style with an American twist to it!
After the pictures Nikita and Matt changed clothes for the reception. Here they are in the hall just outside the ballroom awaiting their announcement into the room filled with their guests! Nikita and Matt, what a fabulous, unforgettable wedding! I am honored to have been a part of your spectacular wedding day!
